Olmsted Fellowship
Overview
The William W. Olmsted Editorial Fellowship for Trainees is for residents and fellows in training who are interested in scholarly publication and medical journal editorial processes.

Fellowship details
The fellowship lasts for approximately one week and is virtual. Upon receipt of fellowship, recipients are invited to work with the editorial offices to tailor the fellowship to a specific journal/area of interest.
The fellowship:
· Provides structured editorial education through on-demand learning.
· Offers a shared core curriculum in peer review, publication ethics, and digital publishing.
· Offers mentored capstone projects tailored to the fellows' journal of interest with tangible deliverables.
· Provides opportunities for continued engagement after the fellowship.
· Grants attendance at the following meetings (virtual or in person):

- Editors' Forum (location varies)
- March Publications Council (in Chicago)
- Editorial meetings during the RSNA annual meeting (in Chicago)
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Olmsted Fellowship, you must:
· Be an RSNA member
· Still be in training (resident, fellow).
· Have a record of publications in scientific and/or educational peer-reviewed journals.
Each department or institution should nominate only a single candidate for the fellowship in any given year. Interested individuals should coordinate their application with their department’s administration.
Application requirements
In addition to completing the questions on this form, please also upload the items listed below.
- Your curriculum vitae.
- A 500-word personal statement which includes your objectives in radiology journalism.
- Three letters of reference: from your department chair, program director, and faculty member. The letter from your chair must include an indication that the chair agrees to let you be away from your department if you are selected as a fellow.
Award
One fellow is selected each year and is awarded a stipend of $5,000.
